September TBR List

Thanks to school I got minimal reading done, well, that's an understatement. I'm in my senior year of high school and I just managed to finish my weekly book report ONE DAY BEFORE - and that's when I read it to, folks. 

Needless to say, I've been busy. I hate when school starts and reading is put on the back burner. That's one of the worst times of the year in my opinion, well, that and when Bees come out. (I firmly believe spring was meant to destroy me.) 

But I'm planning to get back to reading this month (we'll see how that goes) so now, let's start off with September's TBR.

Like I said, I didn't read much last month so I'm going to keep a few of the books from August's TBR and add a few more to add some flavor.

It's official. Olivia is a superfreak. Sure, she may have landed the hottest internship at an übercool TV music station. And yes, she's chilling with A-listers in London all summer.   Luckily, Rocker Boy thinks Liv's quirks are adorable. He takes her clubbing at the hippest spots! Liv may be clumsy on solid ground, but on the dance floor she sparkles. The summer's just begun and she's already captured the spotlight -- and a celeb's heart, too. Now if only she was surehe's the right guy...

I know I'm late reading a lot of these books, they've just been sitting on my shelf because I feel like there is always something better to read. *Note: the last three books are from a Bind-Up. I have SEVEN bind ups and am trying to get through them as well!

The book I am currently reading is The Selection by Kiera Cass. It is such a good book. I am only on chapter five but have a couple characters on my favorites list and a bunch in the dislikes category!

Book Review: 

This book was an awesome summer read. I always walk away from Sarah Dessen’s books thinking about how she always hits teenager’s emotions right on the nose. She has an amazing talent… I am envious. 

I enjoyed the main characters, but fell in love with Jamie within the first few chapters. He, in my opinion, made the entire book. He was so funny, yet so realistic in his own way. His voice let in that little bit of humor that Dexter (This Lullaby) had whenever the book was getting a little to serious. 

Ruby Cooper was serious, as most of Dessen’s main characters are, and at times was a little annoying. I did however love how she took it on herself to find out who Nate really was, and the way she could relate but didn’t suffocate him, that was very well written. Her emotions were true and I could feel them coming off the page. 

Sarah Dessen has a way of making her characters stick with me and that is something i cherish in any author. Her talent baffles me and, as mentioned before, I am envious.

Bout Of Books Read-A-Thon

I just participated in The Booktube-A-Thon and had  so much fun that I decided to go ahead and participate in the Bout Of Books Read-A-Thon just for fun. 

I’m a very competitive person… I come from a very competitive family as well. We’re one of those families who, once having beaten the players around the dining room table, we climb on top of the table and dance shouting “I won, I won!” Needless to say, we don’t go down without a fight. :) 

My family participated in the Booktube-A-Thon with me, but I’ll be Riding Solo on this one… well maybe not. They don’t have blogs so they’ll be silent partners. ;P 

I'm going to attempt to read three books,

Over You by Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus 

Once Upon the End by James Riley

Stacking The Shelves #1

I got one lonely book this week… nonetheless. It’s a book! 

The book I got this week was: 

I have wanted this book for such a long time! I found it at Wal-Mart for $13.99 and couldn’t pass it up. It was such a good deal and, considering I had picked it up several times at my local B&N and I was willing to pay $20.00 I decided to go ahead and pick it up now. I have all of Sarah Dessen’s books now (except for the How To Deal Movie Cover I have yet to get my hands on!) and cannot wait to start reading them again! 

I splurged and got all of the old original covers before they took them out of stores because I can’t stand the new covers. They look gaudy to me. I don’t understand her reasoning but this rant will be saved for another post because now I have some serious reading to do and have 3,000 words to write before 12:00 am. Talk you guys later!

Booktube-A-Thon

I made my video a couple of days ago but have been procrastinating this blog post… but I shall dive in now. 

There were seven challenges: 

1) read an average of 300 pages a day

2) read a book with over 500 pages

3) re-read one book

4) finish a series/trilogy

5) read a book that’s been on your shelf forever

6) listen to an audiobook

7) read a classic 

I choose to attempt them all and managed to complete all of them except ONE! 

The first book I completed was Hacking Harvard by Robbin Wasserman. It was a very good book, although (if you read my review) it had a very sucky ending… very sucky. This completed the Read The Book That Has Been On Your Shelf The Longest Challenge. 

The second book I completed was Thou Shalt Not Road Trip by Antony John. Overall an excellent book except (again) the ending. I felt it could have ended differently (and needed to!) I finished this book and that completed the Read 300 Pages A Day Challenge

The Third Book I completed for for the Re-Read Challenge and that was Anna & the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. It was a very good book and possibly better the second time around! 

The Fourth Book I completed was The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. I did not review this one (because reviewing classics intimidate me!) but it was very good and completed THREE challenges!!!!! The first of which was to Read A Book With 500+ Pages, the second being to Listen To An Audio Book, and the third Challenge was Read A Classic.

The audio book was 700+ Pages long so I had some room to be lazy but ended up completing The Juliet Club (which I highly recommend) by Suzanne Harper to polish off the end off the Booktube-A-Thon. It did not complete any challenges… well I guess it did. It completed the Read 300+ Pages A Day Challenge! 

After adding up all the challenges, the only challenge I did not complete was to Finish A Series or Trilogy which is sad because I only had one book to go to finish one of my favorite trilogies but I just didn’t get around to it.

The total amount of pages I read added up to 2123 Pages! Not bad, huh?
